Best Products with Coenzyme Q10 (CoQ10/Ubiquinone)

Ubiquinone is one of the most valuable and common ingredients in skin care products. Here are all of the best CoQ10 products that I have curated for you. To make sure you only buy the products that are right for you, be sure to take the Baumann Skin Type Quiz before buying your full routine. Once you take the skin type quiz, you will see your colored skin type octagon next to the products that are right for you.

What Does CoQ10 (Ubiquinone) Do for Your Skin?

CoQ10, also known as ubiquinone or coenzyme Q10, is a powerful antioxidant that energizes skin cells and helps combat the signs of aging. As a dermatologist, I highly recommend incorporating CoQ10 into your skincare routine for its ability to protect against environmental stressors, reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, and promote a more youthful, radiant complexion.

Hydroxydecyl Ubiquinone (Idebenone) in Skincare

Hydroxydecyl ubiquinone, also known as idebenone, is a synthetic derivative of CoQ10. While it has been used in skincare products for its antioxidant properties, it has fallen out of favor due to its potential to cause skin allergies. As a result, I prefer to recommend products containing natural CoQ10 (ubiquinone) for safer and more effective results.

The Anti-Aging Benefits of CoQ10 in Skincare

CoQ10 is a key player in your skin's anti-aging defense system. By providing energy to skin cells, CoQ10 helps to maintain a youthful, plump appearance and reduce the depth and appearance of wrinkles. Its antioxidant properties also help to protect the skin from damaging free radicals, which can accelerate the aging process and lead to uneven skin tone and texture.

The Ideal Percentage of CoQ10 in Skincare Products

When selecting skincare products containing CoQ10, it's important to note that higher percentages can cause the product to take on a yellow color. However, this does not impact the effectiveness of the ingredient. I recommend looking for products with a concentration of 0.02-0.05% CoQ10, as this range has been shown to provide optimal benefits without altering the product's appearance.
