DSNT skin is Dry, Sensitive, Non-Pigmented and Tight.
DSNTs are often under 30, have good skincare and sun-protection habits, and do not yet need anti-aging treatment. The priorities for DSNT skin are to repair the skin barrier, calm inflammation and treat acne or redness when present.
Your completeBaumann Skin Type matters when choosing skincare. Knowing that your skin is simply dry, sensitive or acne-prone is not enough to choose the right products. Each of the 16 Baumann Skin Types has different skincare needs, and changing even one letter can change which ingredients and products are appropriate.
This is especially important for DSNT skin because there are different types of sensitivity that DSPTs might have and this affects product choice.. Many DSNTs have dry skin with acne and may benefit from a carefully selected retinoid, while others have redness, stinging or early rosacea and should avoid retinoids and focus on soothing skincare until the inflammation improves. A product that is appropriate for one DSNT may therefore be wrong for another. Look at the custom routine that our dermatologist-developed algorithm has made for you to find the best products to use on your DSPT Skin Type.
The foundation of a DSNT skincare routine is a barrier-safe cleanser, barrier-repair moisturizer, anti-inflammatory ingredients and sunscreen. If acne is present, acne treatments should be introduced carefully, and moisturizers, sunscreens and other leave-on products should be noncomedogenic and chosen to help you tolerate the acne treatments.
DSNT skin generally does not need anti-aging products yet. The exception is a retinoid when it is being used to treat acne. Adding unnecessary anti-aging serums, acids and exfoliating products can increase irritation and make dry, sensitive skin more difficult to manage.
Your personalized DSNT routine takes your type of sensitivity, skincare habits and product preferences into account so that the products selected for you match your individual needs and are designed to work together as a complete skincare routine. This collection shows products that may show up in your recommended DSPT skin care routine.

What is the biggest skincare mistake DSNT skin types make?
The biggest mistake DSNTs make is over-exfoliating and using the wrong cleansers and moisturizers. DSNT skin has a weakened skin barrier, so using too many acids, exfoliants, vitamin C serums and other potentially irritating products can worsen dryness, inflammation and sensitivity. Start with a barrier-safe cleanser and barrier-repair moisturizer, then add only the treatment products your skin actually needs.
How To treat DSNT skin with acne?
Treating acne in DSNT skin can be challenging because many effective acne treatments can worsen dryness and irritation. Retinoids can be a good choice, but the correct retinoid and strength should be introduced slowly, such as starting every third night and gradually increasing
frequency as tolerated.
Using the right barrier-safe cleanser and barrier-repair moisturizer can make retinoids easier to tolerate. Avoid combining a new retinoid with multiple exfoliating products, which can increase irritation. Moisturizers, sunscreens and other leave-on products should also be noncomedogenic.
Which products should DSNT skin with redness, stinging or rosacea use?
DSNT skin with redness, stinging or early rosacea needs a soothing, anti-inflammatory routine. If your skin is actively red, inflamed or stinging, avoid retinoids, acids and exfoliating products that may increase irritation. Focus first on gentle cleansing, soothing ingredients and barrier repair. This is why knowing your type of sensitivity matters: the best routine for a DSNT with acne can be very different from the best routine for a
DSNT with redness or stinging.
Does DSNT skin need anti-aging skincare?
Usually not. The T in DSNT stands for Tight, which means significant skin aging is not currently one of your barriers to skin health. DSNTs are often younger and have good sun-protection habits, so adding multiple anti-aging ingredients can cause unnecessary irritation without addressing a current skin concern. The exception is a retinoid used to treat acne. Daily sunscreen and good skincare habits are the most important ways to help keep DSNT skin healthy and prevent premature skin aging.
