Acetyl Tetrapeptide-2 is a synthetic peptide consisting of four amino acids, designed to improve skin firmness, texture, and hydration. It is acetylated to enhance skin absorption and stability. This peptide mimics the action of thymopoietin, a natural immune-modulating peptide, and plays a role in skin cell communication and renewal. One of its key effects is the stimulation of filaggrin and involucrin, two proteins involved in epidermal maturation. Filaggrin, in particular, helps hydrate the skin by increasing natural moisturizing factor (NMF), which binds water and maintains skin suppleness. Acetyl Tetrapeptide-2 also promotes the production of fibrillin and elastin, which support the skin’s elastic structure and firmness. These actions make it especially useful in formulations targeting hormonal or age-related skin laxity. It is typically well tolerated and suitable for sensitive or mature skin, and is often used in anti-aging serums or creams designed to restore resilience and promote a more youthful skin appearance.
