I was on Today show this am

Tuesday, December 4th, 2007

It happened at the last minute so I could not warn you to watch. I was talking about what could have been used on the beauty pageant contestant to make her itch.  It is likely a form of itching powder which could be a component of okra, rose hips or other natural ingredients. Who knows?  We will probably find out soon.  Anyway- they showed up in my office and I was seeing patients with no makeup on.  I hurriedly borrowed makeup from a nurse so please don’t hold me responsible for the pink lip gloss. She is much younger than me!  We do what we can- right?  Anyway- wishing you happy holidays with a lip gloss to match your skin tone and type. Look at www.skinguru.com for 5 blogs that are coming on Xmas gift ideas.

My quiz has been posted illegally online

Wednesday, November 21st, 2007

Please help! I have recently been told that my skin type questionnaire is found online at makeupalley at http://www.makeupalley.com/user/notepad/AlFitz/. This is a huge violation of my copyright. I have always wanted to make the quiz available online but I want to do it in a controlled manner so that the data can be collected and used to increase our knowledge about what skin types are most prevalent for research purposes. In addition- we DO NOT have permission from Bantam Dell (The book publishers) to do the quiz online. The person who posted it is setting themselves up for a lawsuit from the publishers. PLEASE tell them to take it down. I do not know this person- some of you may- so please reason with him/her. I am THRILLED that you are communicating about your skin type and skin care suggestions. We just have to keep the quiz controlled so that when changes are made to the quiz we know that everyone is using the most up to date version. For example- the current quiz at http://www.SkinIQ.com/ is much shorter. It soon will have photographs. I have been able to get legal permission to have it online at http://www.SkinIQ.com/ thru your dermatologist or skin care professional (They have to sign up and been accepted into the research project). So Please do it that way. Can you please mention in your conversations on www.makeupalley.com to ask your derms to sign up at http://www.SkinIQ.com/? Thanks a million! By the way- I just did a program for yahoo that you may find interesting. Click here to see it! Please add your comments about the lessons in life you have learned. Have a great Thanksgiving! Look for Xmas gift suggestions coming soon at http://www.skinguru.com/. Please tell me your favorite Xmas skin care gifts in the forum section under general discussion/blogs. Also- Roger- my husband- told me to tell you that if you find a bug on the site- email him directly at mailto: bugs@skintypesolutions.com.

I am so jetlagged! Yikes!

No time no blog :(

Monday, November 12th, 2007

Hi everyone!

I am so sorry I have not written.  I have been in Argentina, London, Columbus Ohio, Dubai and am now in Saudi Arabia.  Whew!  I am racking up the frequent flyer miles.  I am learning lots of interesting things that I will write about in upcoming yahoo blogs.  Speaking of my yahoo blog- have you seen this one on Facial powders?  People are ranking it as not helpful.  L  I do not see why.  I was shocked when I learned that you have to use 14 times the normal amount of powder!  Tell me in the blog section what you are interested in hearing about in the blog.  The upcoming newsletter is on supplements and it’s really long so get ready.  I miss you all- I will be logging on to forums soon when I get back to a decent internet connection.  Let’s get ready to start sharing favorite products to give as Christmas gifts.  Shopping season is here again. I hit duty free tomorrow on my way back to Dubai.  You know what a sucker I am for duty free!

Talk to you soon!

Levulan and PDT

Thursday, October 18th, 2007

I recently returned form the World Congress of Dermatology in Argentina. (I gave 10 talks- I am exhausted!)
I wanted to share with you that there was a lot of talk about PDT (photodynamic therapy) and its use for acne, photoaging and precancerous lesions.  The way this works is you paint the skin with Levulan and wait 30 minutes or more.  That makes you light sensitive.  Then a blue light is shone on the skin.  The acne results were remarkable! We have been using it for years to treat photodamage (sun spots and early skin cancer), however I had not used it for acne.  This is an option for those who do not want antibiotics or Accutane.
There was also lots of talk about Reloxin- the new Botox- that may be out I the US in the next year.  It seems to last longer than Botox.  Let’s hope so!
Have a great day!  I have a great newsletter on supplements coming soon!
