Hi Dr. Erica,

Hope you are well. I love the information on your site, it's very helpful.

Please help me with my skin. I am turning 40, d=20.5 s=42 p=35.5 and t=35. with a disposition to acne from sensitizing ingredients mentioned in Leslie's book. I have olive skin and black hair and from India.
Would you please recommend a good body oil after bath? I usually look for products that are not overly expensive, so if your recommendation is costly, please recommend another cheaper one with it that I can use when the expensive one is not on sale.

Body oils puzzle me because I don't know what's good and what's not-sometimes they have essential oils and sometimes not. I like something to soothe dry skin and also to anti-age as now we get a little wrinkly, no?

Also a question that is occupying my mind, I use simple skincare which includes retinol cream 2-3 times a month (laser hair keeps me from applying it more frequently) but use cod liver oil, vitamin e capsules and omega 3 oil. Will that help with my anti aging? I heard that using supplements internally could be good but don't know if it's true.
If you have any recommendations, please tell me.

I am looking forward to hearing your advice.

Have a nice day.

Sincerely,

Smita

I would like to make a request for a future blog: I would love to see a list of some common products/actives that should not be used together or with restrictions (never use in the same routine….or only use 1 in the morning and 1 in the evening…..or only use on alternating days) I have read warnings about AHAs/BHAs with retinol products…..Vit C and copper peptides….etc. Thank you…

PS…I am posting this request to all of the dermatologists

Ola Dr. Monteiro!
Could you please give some advice on effective non-prescription ways to remove pigmentation from sun damage? I am a 26 year old OSPT/W and have a few liver spots and quite a few little sun spots on my arms from years of tanning. Right now I'm trying Ambi 2% hydroquinone cream twice a day plus sunscreen, but it's not really making a difference. Or if you could recommend an effective rx treatment that would be great too, but right now I can't afford anything like IPL.
Obrigada

Thanks for the interesting blog entries! Fortunately, I don't have any current issues with warts. I am just wondering if there is anything you recommend OTC for plantar warts?

I had one as a teenager which disappeared on it's own. (I was swimming daily in a heavily chlorinated pool at the time -- don't know if that helped.) One of my kids had our late dermatologist freeze hers off in 2 treatments (which kind of freaked her out, at the time).

Thanks,
Jane in Farmington, CT

Jane, I totally agree with you! Sometimes we try to "clean" the skin but in sensitive patients (including babies) we are removing some lipids that are important to protect the skin. I know that it is hard to believe that this is specially important during dry weather!
Thanks to share your experience!

Best wishes from Brazil!

My youngest "baby" is 18 1/2, but I do have experience with sensitive newborn skin that may be helpful. All three of my kids were prone to rashes and eczema.

What help us the most (aside from using minimal. gentle products) was to avoid daily bathing.

I always got weird (alarmed) reactions from people when I would mention that my babies didn't receive daily baths. They always relaxed when I pointed out that the particularly "dirty" parts got cleaned regularly-- from the waist down at every diaper changes and hands plus from the neck up at every meal...not to mention frequent spit-up cleanings. :)

I will even admit that I cannot shower daily in the dry winter months w/o getting "winter eczema"
