Baby and Skin
Infant Skin
The skin of a newborn is not fully formed or functional. It is thin and it is not a good protective barrier. The swet glands, oil glands and hair follicules also may not be fully developed. The infant skin is more delicate and more easily harmed by things that come in contact with it. Avoid sun exposure, even moderate exposure may cause a severe sunburn. Chemicals, medication or other products can easily penetrate the skin causing sensibilization.
I recomend moisturise the skin everyday using appropriate cream.

My youngest “baby” is 18 1/2, but I do have experience with sensitive newborn skin that may be helpful. All three of my kids were prone to rashes and eczema.
What help us the most (aside from using minimal. gentle products) was to avoid daily bathing.
I always got weird (alarmed) reactions from people when I would mention that my babies didn’t receive daily baths. They always relaxed when I pointed out that the particularly “dirty” parts got cleaned regularly– from the waist down at every diaper changes and hands plus from the neck up at every meal…not to mention frequent spit-up cleanings.
I will even admit that I cannot shower daily in the dry winter months w/o getting “winter eczema”

Jane, I totally agree with you! Sometimes we try to “clean” the skin but in sensitive patients (including babies) we are removing some lipids that are important to protect the skin. I know that it is hard to believe that this is specially important during dry weather!
Thanks to share your experience!
Best wishes from Brazil!
